How to get your song on US radio

Streaming did not kill radio. Top 40 airplay is still the line between a hit online and a hit in America, and it runs on rules most artists never see.

Who decides the adds

Every commercial station has a program director who decides the handful of songs added each week. They take the call from people whose last ten records performed, they add songs with momentum they can verify, and they are paid to never be first on an unproven record.

Which means there is no submission form, no upload portal and no shortcut. US radio runs on relationships built over decades, and either your team has them or it does not.

The door has no handle on the outside

An artist can release music, grow socials and even land press independently. Radio is the exception. The programmers who control Top 40 playlists do not take cold calls, and the independent promoters they do trust work with teams, not inboxes. Anyone selling you "guaranteed spins" is selling either overnight wallpaper rotation or a payola problem; paying stations for undisclosed airplay is illegal in the US.

The real path is a campaign: the right format, the right story, the right people carrying it to the right programmers, timed against your press, TV and streaming so everything peaks in the same window.

What that looks like when it works

When we took K-pop to U.S. Top 40 pop radio for the first time (BTS era, 2016–2018), the argument was never "trust us." It was audience data programmers could not ignore, delivered by people they had trusted for twenty years, timed against television and press landing the same weeks. The same machine ran Monsta X's campaigns alongside GMA, TODAY and Kelly Clarkson bookings and a top-5 Billboard 200 album.

That is what the Top 40 Radio service is: the relationships, the sequencing and the campaign, under the same roof as press, TV booking and Playlisting & DSP. For the bigger picture, read how to break into the U.S. market.

Questions

Is radio right for my project?

If your streams, socials or touring are already moving, radio is what converts that momentum into the American mainstream. If nothing is moving yet, build the story first; a campaign without one burns budget. We will tell you which side of that line you are on.

Can you guarantee airplay?

No one can, and anyone who says otherwise is the red flag. What decades of programmer relationships buy is the meeting and a fair hearing; the record and the story win the add. Our results at that table are public.
